Powerful Quake Shakes Indonesia

At approximately 3:49 GMT a 7.9 magnitude earthquake was reported just off the coast of Indonesia. There is no report of casualties so far but they have been reports of buildings collapsing, and buildings collapsing means there is almost certainly going to be casualties. People were in panic after the quake today like most people would be. There have been many reports of injuries. The quake originated 64 miles off the coast of Indonesia. Telephones lines in the city Bengkulu have no telephones lines at the moment. As soon as the quake struck tsunami warnings went out to all countries in the surrounding area. I think that after the tsunami at Sri Lanka back in December of 2005 has made countries on the coast and islands more protected to tsunamis. Tsunami warning systems have gone through much change since that disaster to save more lives. I think this should have been done way before the 2005 incident, but we learn from our mistakes and that is why people are more safe now on islands and countries that are on the coast and that are vulnerable to tsunamis.
