Nine People Killed in Burmese Crackdown

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

Recently in Burma their have been thousands of protesters in the streets. The protests have recently turned violent and the army have now reportedly killed 9 people. The 9 dead include 8 protesters and a Japanese man. There have also been 11 protesters injured along with 31 army personnel. Lots of people have voiced their opinion about the protests and the government. George Bush stated that, "made it clear that we will not stand by as the regime tries to silence the voices of the Burmese people through repression and intimidation." The UN is sending in a representative to talk with the government to try and keep peace in the country. Also the Burmese army have been reportedly seen arresting monks and destroying temples.
I think that the Burmese government have been to harsh and should stop being so violent. I think that the protesters have a right in protesting so the government should let them and stop being so violent.
